⚙️How to Install a Skin with Custom Knight⚙️

🔺This guide includes installing a skin on custom for patches 1.5.78 & 1.4.3.2

⚙️For patch 1.5.78⚙️


🔹If you haven’t already, download Scarab the Mod installer for 1.5



🔸Once scarab is installed install Custom Knight and Satchel


-(Note that once installing Custom knight Satchel will automatically install. If not the install it your self. Satchel is a mod that Custom Knight requires to work do not uninstall it without also uninstalling mods that depend on it)


🔹️Attention! Remember to do this process while the game is CLOSED


-When modding videogames, it's important not to have the game open while you mod, You cant change a plane wing whole it's flying, things will go wrong. The same happens when modding


🔸️Download a skin from anywhere

-Once you download the skin double check that:

1. The skins Is in a Unzipped/Extracted Folder (if it came in a zipped folder)


2. The skin has a sprite sheet with the name Knight(.png) (if it doesn’t follow the guide on installing a miscellaneous skins)




🔹️Once the skin is downloaded navigate to your skins folder created by custom knight


-If you don’t know how to do this open scarab and click open mods

-From your mods folder locate the Custom knight folder

-Open the Custom knight folder then open the skins folder





🔸️Move the skin you downloaded into your Skins folder

- With the skin in you Skins folder make sure it follows the correct file structure.


- This means the structure of the path should be:

[…] / Managed / Mods / Custom Knight / Skins / (Skin name) / (Skin’s Sprite Sheets)


-An example of a incorrect file structure would be:


[…] / Managed / Mods / Custom Knight / Skins / (Skin name) / (Additional folder) / (Skin’s Sprite Sheets)

🔹️Once the skin is in the correct location open Hollow knight


🔸️Open a save file


- If you try to apply a skin on the main menu it will not work




🔹️Pause the game and click Options > Mods > Custom Knight



🔸️Select your skin and hit apply




🔹️After that your skin will be applied


-There is no limit on the amount of skins you can install so to install another one repeat this process

-If you don’t know how to do this follow the paths below (if you are using mi1 you can hit manually install a mod)

*Note: These assume you're using Steam.


Windows:


Mod Files:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods\

Mac OS:


Mod Files:

Right-click hollow_knight.app, and select "show contents", then navigate to: contents ᐅ resources` ᐅ data ᐅ managed ᐅ mods


Linux:

~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight_Data/Managed/Mods/


-From your mods folder locate the Custom knight folder and open it


🔹Move the skin you downloaded into your Custom Knight folder

🔸Once the skin is in the correct location open Hollow knight



🔹Open a save file




🔸Pause the game


🔹Select your skin from the menu in the top left


🔸After that un-pause and your skin will be applied

My Custom Knight folder doesnt seem to have any subfolders in it! what should I do? i tried reinstalling scarab and the mod itself but nothing changed.
