SCARAB INSTALLATION GUIDE
If you are are on patch different from 1.5.78.11833! Scarab is built for the current most recent patch (1.5.78.11833 colloquially known as 1.5) If you want to use scarab up-patch your game. If you would prefer to stay on 1.4.3.2 Install modinstaller 1/2.
Download scarab from the GitHub page linked below.
-If you are on Windows download only Windows.zip
-If you are on Linux download only Linux.zip
-If you are on MacOS download only MacOS.zip
•Scarab will work with only the three OSs listed above, Additionally note there is no need to download any other file then the OS specific one
After Downloading the .zip file extract/unzip it & move the extracted folder to your desktop folder.
•Make sure you keep all the files that originally came in the zipped folder together while moving the extracted folder to desktop Once extracted to desktop run Scarab(.exe) found in the extracted folder.
if scarab is asking you to select a path your path will end in selecting the hollow knight folder see below what the path will look like;
Windows C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\
MacOS ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/hollow_knight.app/
Linux ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Hollow Knight/
To install a mod with scarab click the box next to Installed? If you want to uninstall the mod click the same box again.
If a mod shows outdated click the orange box to update it. once this is done all you have to do is load the game and mods will now appear.

HOW TO VERIFY FILE INTEGRITY
Steam
Enter the Steam app and go to your Library
Right click Hollow Knight at the left bar and click "Properties"
Select the "LOCAL FILES" tab and click the "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES..." button.
GOG
Enter the GOG Galaxy app and from the Library section, click on Hollow Knight
Click the "More" drop down.
Move the mouse over "Manage Installation".
Click "Verify / Repair".
SCARAB FAQ
CAN I USE MODS ON PIRATED/CRACKED VERSIONS OF HOLLOW KNIGHT?
No, Piracy is not something that is supported in pretty much any "main" community for a game, and that includes modding communities.
HK Modding is only supported on the official Steam version, the official Xbox App version and the official GoG version.
Hollow Knight goes on sale regularly, and you can keep an eye on this website for when it is: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/hollowknight/ Note: Many vendors, such as Humble Bundle, offer the game as a Steam Key.
HOW DO I MANUALLY INSTALL MODS ON SCARAB?
While most are on scarab there are some you may need to manually install.
-Download the mod .dll or folder make sure you get the mod that is made for your patch a lot of times mods will have separate 1.4 and 1.5 releases.
-Open scarab and click the open mods button.
-Move the mod you installed into the mods folder you just opened. if you are on 1.5 and the mod you downloaded is a .dll then in your mods folder create a folder with the name of the mod and move the .dll into the newly created folder.
-Load the game and the mod will be there.
IS ENEMY RANDOMIZER ON 1.5/SCARAB/ WHAT IS THE MOST RECENT VERSION OF RANDOMIZER?
As of now Enemy Randomizer isn't on scarab and is a long way away from being ported to scarab or 1.5. If you want to play enemy rando down-patch to 1.4.3.2 and install Enemy Randomizer off of Modinstaller 1/2
The most recent version of Randomizer 4 and is currently only on 1.5. The most recent Randomizer on 1.4.3.2 Is currently Randomizer 3.
CAN I INSTALL A 1.4.3.2. MOD ON 1.5?
No you can't. However most mods are on 1.5 Right now. Look around the mods GitHub for a 1.5 release if you are unable to find one then ask in the Hollow Knight Discord server and if it exists, someone may link it to you
WILL MODS AFFECT MY MAIN FILE/ACHIEVEMENTS?
No, Mods don't affect achievements, Mods can't affect your save file with the exception of Hollow Point, but the effect is temporal and can be removed
CAN I MOD XBOX GAMEPASS FOR PC?/CAN I MOD A CONSOLE?
No, you can't mod a console, but you can mod the Xbox gamepass for PC, follow these steps for it

WHY IS SCARAB INSTALLING MODS WHENEVER I INSTALL CERTAIN MODS?
Some mods will have dependencies they need to operate.
A dependency gives a mod code to base and run properly.
Scarab will automatically install any dependencies a mod needs upon install the mod.
To check what dependencies a mod needs click the arrow next to the mod and look under the dependency section if none are listed the mod has none.
CAN I UNINSTALL DEPENDENCIES?
No, uninstalling a dependency will cause issues in your game and cause all mods that rely on the dependency to stop.
An example of missing a dependency is missing Vasi.
Vasi is one of the most used dependencies on 1.5 mods like QoL rely on it. If it isn’t present then you typically won’t be able to damage/interact with enemies.
HOW TO UPDATE SCARAB OR A OUT OF DATE! MOD?
to update a Out of Date! Mod click the orange box that has replaced Installed? Box.
When Scarab gets a new update you'll get notified to install the new version, to do so click the button "Get the latest release", this will redirect you to the updated Scarab download page where you will follow the same steps as if you downloaded it for the first time.

HOW DO I GET BACK TO VANILLA GAME
Geting back to vanilla game is easy, you can either:
Use the "disable api" button on Scarab.
This will disable the ModdingApi, making your game un-modded​Verify File Integrity
This action is made on the Steam/GOG app and it will delete the ModdingApi, to get the Api again Just reinstall Any mod on scarab

HOW TO USE SCARAB IN XBOX GAMEPASS
First enter the Xbox app and move your mouse over Hollow Knight on the left bar.
Click the three points then click "Manage".
Go to the "Files" tab and select "Browse...". Click Hollow Knight then Content, click the path bar and copy it.
Run Scarab as admin and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.
Second Method: Click on your profile then "Settings"
Go to "General" tab and select "CHANGE FOLDER"
Look for a folder where you want to install the game (Preferably inside a folder in your desktop).
Copy the path bar then run Scarab and when it asks you for the path paste what copied before.
Scarab path folder needs to have Hollow Knight_Data folder inside
