SKIN DOESN'T LOAD
If you skin doesn't want to load and it puts the default knight instead you may have extra folders.
The skin should be placed like this: Mods/Custom Knight/Skins/[SkinFolderName]/[SkinImages] as the image below shows.

Troubleshooting for mods non-CK related
❗HOLLOW KNIGHT CRASHES UPON OPENING, AFTER INSTALLING A MOD
-This glitch can happen for a number of reasons make sure that all the reasons listed listed below don't apply to you.
🔸You are on the incorrect patch for scarab or Modinstaller 1/2.
Scarab is made for patch 1.5 and like wise Modinstaller 1/2 is made for version 1.4.3.2 if you are on a different patch then consult the pins 📌 for a guide on changing your patch for the modinstaller you would like to use. If want to stay on your patch get the correct installer and install a mod on it to stop the crashing.
🔺You pirated the game/own the game cracked.
Piracy is illegal and we encourage you to buy the game (you will not receive any form of support here until you do so). Piracy is not supported in most communities and that includes modding ones.
HK Modding is only supported on the official Steam version and the official GoG version.

🔹You manually installed a mod for the wrong patch
Make sure the mod was made for your version of the game, unless the mod is one of the few mods only on one patch the look in then, mods GitHub for a version of the mod that fits your patch.
🔸If none of the above worked.
Although rare if your issue persists verify game integrity to restore missing files. After that reinstall your installer and install a mod. If that doesn’t work you will have to play the game un-modded.
Verify on Steam:
From the Library section, right-click on hollow knight and select Properties from the menu.
Select the LOCAL FILES tab and click the VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES button
Steam will verify the game files.
Verify on GOG Galaxy:
From the Library section, click on Hollow knight.
Click the More drop down.
Hover the mouse over Manage Installation
Click Verify / Repair
Confirm the request by clicking VERIFY GAME in the pop up.
SCARAB HAS NO LIST/APPEARS BLANK.
SCARAB FAILS TO FETCH MOD LINKS.
Folder: Make sure your folder is extracted, and on your desktop/subfolder inside your desktop and that there are the 4 files inside that came in the zipped folder.
VPN: If your scarab files are in order and the issue persists use a VPN, If you don't already have one, https://1.1.1.1/ is a trusted free VPN.
Reset Installer: If using a VPN didn't work try resetting Scarab by doing the following: Windows
Go to %APPDATA% and delete HKInstallerSettings.json Then run the installer again.
Windows Automated
This will automatically delete HKInstallerSettings.json Download and run : https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/462200562620825600/842427721065955348/ModInstaller_Reset.bat
Mac
You can reset the path by deleting ~/.config/HKInstallerSettings.json
AN EXCEPTION OCCURRED WHILE TRYING TO INSTALL/UNINSTALL [NAME OF MOD]
Make sure your game is closed -you can’t change the tires on a moving car and similarly you can’t make changes to a running hollow knight.
Run scarab as an administrator -to do this right click the scarab exe (should show up on your taskbar) and click run as administrator
